Trying to think of what to say about today, some way to describe it in a few brush strokes, a few smooth arcs of color. Breakfast was eaten in company, shopping was accomplished and an ink cartridge for the printer was replaced. Letters to friends were pondered over and pounded out. Joy was shared... also the love of indescribable weirdnesses on the web. A friend was forcibly exposed to All Your Base. She laughed. It lightened her load for a time. It was a good day.
Colorgenics will tell you more about yourself than a horoscope. Mine was pretty accurate. Spooky. =) You pick colors to find out what kind of person you are.
This is the coolest clock I've seen in awhile.
This is a funny about how men & women shower.
All Your Base Are Belong to Us. This is a music video that is too cool to describe. You'll probably have to d/l software to view it, but it's worth the time. Plus it's one of those Internet things like the Dancing Baby that everybody knows about: part of our shared culture.
Keep staring at the doorway in this .gif Just keep staring.... *evil cackle*

Plan for World Domination: Stay unemployed for as long as I can afford it. I can probably stretch it out until after I pass my EMT certification exam (a couple of months, looks like.) For sure I'm not doing anything today or this weekend toward job finding.
Blockbuster told me they weren't hiring when I called today. They were hiring when I filled out their computer application last week. Guess I don't fit their profile. I am massively over-qualified, but I would kind of like working in a video store and seeing what people rent. Maybe I should apply at I [heart] Video. They have a big lgbt section: maybe I could meet someone that way.
Supposed to go shopping with L tomorrow morning when she gets off work. That'll be fun. I need a new black ink cartridge for my printer so I can write to my off-line friends.

Hey, this is great: Interactive Wound Care Guide. It's about time I started putting medical things on here. Warning: graphic photographs of wounds. Not for the faint of heart.
This is also great fun, for some reason. No icky stuff here, just skeletons. Fun toy. =)

The killing of these gay Saudi guys who were executed on New Years Day really bothers me. I mean, they were executed by beheading in a public square, with hundreds watching, and NOTHING has appeared in the US mass media.
Here is an article from Workingforchange.
I just joined Amnesty International. The only other organizations I send money to are the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign, which I get annoyed with sometimes, but overall I agree with their positions and actions. Plus they're huge, and sometimes huge is necessary. I never joined AI before because their actions on behalf of gays & lesbians were nonexistent until the past few years.

Almost 50 years ago. It's taking a long time to achieve equality, isn't it?

From a TV Guide article:
GAY NETWORK COULD DEBUT WITHIN A YEAR
Showtime And MTV Would Develop It For Viacom; Others Considering, Too
I love being a lesbian in the 21st Century in the US. =)

Well, I put my request in online to take the test (they don't give it in Austin any more). My first choice was Jan. 29th. The test dates are all on Tuesdays, which is kind of annoying as all my classes are Tu-Th this coming semester (which starts next Monday.) They don't have a test listed for January 22, which is probably good, because my Mother is having her knee replaced on Jan 21, & I have to be in Houston for that. Temple is just 1 1/2 hours from here, but Houston is a 3 hour drive. I can't afford to fly because I'm still unemployed. I put my second choice of a test date on January 15, because that's my first day of classes... I really don't want to miss that, though: kind of sets a bad tone for the rest of the semester. I always feel like people know Important Facts that I should know if I start missing classes.
I called the Tx Dept of Health in Temple to find out all this info. Talked to a nice woman named Janice who gave me directions to the test site. Then when I filled in the form, it said I would get an email confirmation in FIVE DAYS. *sigh* They apparently can't afford to hire someone to hook the whole thing up on the web. Major bummer.
Still, this is definitely progress, and maybe since I told Janice I had sent her email, she'll check it and hook me up with a test date soon.
Next thing on the agenda is a job. *shudder*

I really missed blogging yesterday. blogger.com was messed up in some major way. I got very depressed when I ran out of things to do. I usually read a lot, but I just wasn't in the mood for that yesterday. Nothing has changed in my life situation; hoping for some news tomorrow. I should be doing something useful with my unemployment time like Bruce does.
Just checked: YESSSS I'm on the LIST at Tx Dept of Health! I can schedule my exam!!

Welcome to ePeople, home of the Virtual Makeover. This is so fun! Have to have 1024 x 786, though, or scroll sideways.
Things are just going today. Ran some errands -- mailed a package containing a Christmas gift today. I never claimed to be punctual. I like to give stuff to people when I find it, and claim it's for the next upcoming holiday or birthday. That way I don't have to deal with a deadline when I don't feel like it.

WebMD - Liar, Liar, Face on Fire
A camera that takes a picture of the heat in your face detects lies at least as well as polygraph machines. Unlike conventional lie detectors, the camera can be used without your knowledge.

BELIEF SYSTEMS This is a cool test to see what religion your beliefs fit into. My #1 was Unitarian Universalist (at 100%), #2 was Neo-Paganism (at some percent that's gone now.) Going at religion in this way is a very Unitarian thing to do. =)

Oh, sadness, betrayal, misery... Someone clicked on my wish list over to the left and took everything out of my wishlist at Barnes & Noble. It took me months to make up that list... I have spent my $$ on gifts for others, and was waiting for my paychecks to start coming in before buying things. I guess they weren't so important, after all: they're just things.
I've been playing with the links on this page as a way of avoiding thought. Have to check on jobs again Monday. Surely they'll have processed my paperwork at TDH by next week, and I can schedule the EMT exam. I really would prefer to take it in Austin, but it's only offered once a month here, and I want to get this done. I probably should start studying again. I tied with another student for highest grade in the class, but it's been since mid-December that we took our final. It seems like longer ago than that.
